What’s wrong with offering an incentive anyway? That’s the subject of a debate at
Volunteering England’s AGM on 24 November at the Mermaid Conference and Events Centre,
Blackfriars, London.

Should volunteers be offered incentives? Or does that contradict the concept of ‘
voluntary’ support?

Or does it not matter? It looks like the word ‘volunteer’ is on the way out, with
young people more likely to react favourably to the idea of “[doing favours](http://www.vinspired.com)“.

The issue has come to the fore with the recent rock concerts by ‘pro-social music
production company’ Orange RockCorps, which offered tickets to concerts in return
for volunteering.

The debate will feature Stephen Greene, Chief Executive of Orange RockCorps, and
Sean Cobley, a Director of the Association of Volunteer Managers.

Time: 2.45p.m. for the Debate; 4.15- 5.30 p.m. drinks reception
