The boards of London’s Capital Community Foundation and Thames Community Foundation
have announced their intention to merge. The result will be one of the largest funders
in London.

In a joint statement the boards of both organisations said that their day-to-day
work and grantmaking will not be affected as the merger process takes place. The
new merged organisation will maintain “all of the separate funds available”.

Carole Souter, Chair of Trustees of Capital Community Foundation, said: “This merger
makes complete sense for us both and will enable us to strengthen the role of Community
Foundations in London. Over the last five years, between us we have been responsible
for over £17 million of funding, making over 3,800 individual grants to over 2,200
charities and local groups.

“There is an excellent geographic fit between us and by combining forces we will
be able to raise more money for charity and grow our endowment funds at a faster
rate.”
