You might have thought that charity begins at home, but not according to renowned
fundraiser Curry King Charan Gill MBE, who insists that charity begins at The Quay.

Having recently hosted the [official launch of Care for a Curry?](https://www.fundraising.co.uk/image/2008/04/09/curry-king-charan-gill-launches-care-curry-dementia-charity),
the new flagship fundraising initiative of leading dementia charity Alzheimer Scotland
with an evening of fine Indian dining in the Chubara Indian Restaurant at The Quay
Complex at Musselburgh’s quaint Fisherrow Harbour, Charan is keen to host other
events aiming to raise funds for good causes at the venue.

Mr Gill said, “I’ve always believed passionately in the principle of giving something
back to the community, which is why I like to get involved personally in supporting
a number of charities.

“That’s why I’m issuing an open invitation to anyone involved in fundraising to
come to The Quay to host their special event. We’ve got great experience of organising
successful fundraising events and, together, we can make a real difference to the
lives of people in need.” Mr Gill has become renowned for his many charitable works
over the years.

Last year he helped raise over £40,000 to establish Scotia Farm, a small water buffalo
dairy farm in a remote village of the Punjab, in India to provide free milk to 400
needy families every day.

And for the past nine years he has hosted The Hottest Night of the Year, the legendary
annual celebration of all that’s best in the worlds of showbiz, sport, politics
and business in Glasgow which last year raised over £150,000 for The Prince and
Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow and Help the Aged, India.

Now Mr Gill is planning to bring The Hottest Night of the Year east when it is scheduled
to be held at The Quay on 7th May 2009. This special event will be run in association
with Scottish Love in Action, a Scottish-based charity that cares for and supports
destitute children in India, and will be preceded by a series of other fundraising
events at The Quay, including a Curry Night, an Indian Fashion Night and a Karaoke
Night.

Situated on the main A1 just 10 minutes drive from Edinburgh city centre, with breathtaking
views across the Firth of Forth, The Quay is a perfect setting for a memorable fundraising
event. Up to 200 guests can be accommodated at the complex’s Arthur Suite, while
its Vass Suite can accommodate up to 100 guests.
