Abbey Charitable Trust is to fund a Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) based at Great
Ormond Street Hospital which will help patients and their families, no matter where
they live in the UK.

This the second venture in the Trust’s 2008 three year funding project. It will
donate £150,000 over the course of three years as part of its scheme to help fund
innovative community projects.

Alan Eagle, Manager of Abbey Charitable Trust said: “When selecting charitable organisations
for funding we look for innovative, community focused projects that provide disadvantaged
people with positive advice and assistance.

“The Great Ormond Street Hospital Citizens Advice Bureau is a perfect fit with our
criteria because it will offer practical resources and support during difficult
times for patients’ parents, family members and carers from all over the UK. With
our three year commitment we are helping to ensure that it becomes a lasting resource
for the community.”

Abbey’s Charitable Trust operates mainly in the seven UK areas where Abbey has a
significant staff presence – Belfast, Bradford, Glasgow, London (Camden), Milton
Keynes, Sheffield and Teesside. This year the Trust will donate £2.7 million to
charities. Donations can be given to projects that support disadvantaged people
through: education and training; community regeneration and financial advice.
