The Co-operative Bank has donated £44,000 from its Customer Donation Fund to help
49 community groups across the country.
The Customer Donation Fund makes regular
donations to customers of the bank’s Community Directplus account for community
organisations, charities and social groups. Since the scheme was launched in 2003,
it has given over £140,000 to 170 groups across the country.

Projects that will benefit from this latest payout include an organisation that
promotes art by children with Autism, and a volunteer ran scheme that restores old
hand tools before forwarding them worldwide where they can be used to generate an
income.

As well as providing the chance of financial support via the Customer Donation Fund,
the Community Directplus account offers free banking, credit interest (on balances
over £2,000) and a choice of managing the account online, via the phone or the Post
Office.
