# New Director of Marketing at Diabetes UK

**Mike Hales has been appointed Director of Marketing and Individual Relationships
at Diabetes UK.**

Hales previously directed the marketing and communications for the Commonwealth 
Games in Manchester 2002, and has held senior managerial positions at the BBC, in
public relations and in the music industry.

Hales commented: “It is a privilege to be given the chance to help make a difference
to the lives of people with diabetes”.

Each year the charity funds £6 million of medical research, and provides information
and support to people with diabetes, and campaigns on their behalf.
