The British Lung Foundation is to use its first television commercial to highlight
the impact of lung disease on people’s lives.

Narrated by sports presenter Desmond Lynam and airing in Yorkshire Yorkshire over
the next few weeks, the advert is intended to raise awareness of symptoms such as
breathlessness, wheeziness and a persistent cough. These could all be signs of lung
problems like Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) – an umbrella term for
conditions including emphysema and chronic bronchitis.

It will be broadcast to more than two million homes in the Yorkshire Television
region from 10 April and is aimed at people who may not be aware that their breathlessness
is not just age or “smoker’s cough” but could be COPD and needs to be checked by
their GP.
