Scotland’s national events organisation EventScotland is to give £17,000 to the
2007 British Transplant Games as which take place in Edinburgh in July.
The 2007
British Transplant Games are returning to Scotland for the first time since 1984.
By demonstrating the benefits of successful organ transplantation, the Games strive
to encourage people to sign the organ donor register and help save the lives of
the 6,000 people in the UK currently on the transplant waiting list.

David Williams, Chief Executive of EventScotland, said: “One of EventScotland’s
aims is to showcase Scotland as the perfect stage for major sporting events and
the British Transplant Games offers us a truly unique opportunity. Our support for
the marketing and promotion of the event is sure to help attract visitors to Scotland
from other parts of the UK.”

The support was announced in the run up to the 2007 National Events Conference on
6 March.
