Three charities have had their quality standards endorsed by the Charity Commission.

Age Concern, YMCA England and the Commmunity Foundation Network are the first charities
to have their standards endorsed. These include areas such as managing conflicts
of interest, acountable governance structures, managing staff and volunteers and
dealing with risk. The endorsement procedure is part of the Commission’s wider strategy
for partnership working, designed to improve effectiveness in the sector in partnership
with charities.

Chair of the Commissoin, Dame Suzi Leather said: Charities that champion best practice
in their quality standards should be applauded. By endorsign these policies we hope
to encourage more charites to adopt the principles in our guidance Hallmarks of
an Effective Charity for the benefit of their beneficiaries, to improve effectiveness
and to enhance their reputation.

The Commission recently conducted a takeholder survey which showed strong support
in the sector for partnership working to share knowledge and guidance and spread
best practice.
