# Christian Aid Week 2006 launched

This year’s Christian Aid Week, the oldest door-to-door collection campaign in the
UK, has been launched with the slogan “You Add. We Multiply”.
Music star Beverly
Knight, actor Damian Lewis, and former EastEnders’ star and Strictly Come Dancing
winner Jill Halfpenny have helped launch this year’s fundraising week.

Last year, Christian Aid Week collectors and supporters raised more than £14.8 million.
More than seven million people get involved in Christian Aid Week with around 350,000
volunteers taking part in door-to-door collections using the famous Christian Aid
red envelope.

The campaign first started in 1957, making it the oldest door-to-door collection
campaign in the UK.
