Action Planning, ACEVO, and Charity Finance Directors’ Group are partnering to hold
strategy conference for Chief Executives of charities. The event is designed to
tackle what the organisations call the ‘planning gap’ and help charity leaders develop
and implement “inspirational strategic plans”.
‘Delivering the Vision’ will be held
on 8 December 2005 and some 200 chief executives and members of senior management
teams have registered already.

Most charities now produce some from of strategic plan explains Simon Craft-Stanley,
Director of Strategic Consultancy at Action Planning but in the vast majority of
cases, the plan stays firmly on the shelf and is never implemented.

“We will be focussing primarily on developing really practical and effective processes
for implementing plans – and examining the key roles which should be played by the
CEO, Fundraising Director, Finance Director, Operations Director, HR Director and
the other members of the Senior Management Team”.
