The Irish Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day has not reached its intended target in 2005
and is below the figure for 2004. Daffodil Day is the largest annual fundraising
event run by the Irish Cancer Society to raise money for people with cancer.

Daffodil Day 2004 was the most successful year in the event’s sixteen year history
with ‚€3.1 million raised for cancer care in Ireland. The target for 2005 was ‚€
3.2 million but to date ‚€2.7 million has been raised.

The Irish Cancer Society mobilises 5,000 volunteers to sell the daffodil emblems
throughout the country and it is the biggest fundaising charity event in Ireland.
