UK Fundraising has added three new entries to the telephone fundraising category
of its directory of suppliers of services and products to fundraisers. Telephone
fundraising appears in the direct marketing section of the directory.
The telephone
is an effective fundraising tool used by thousands of charities and local groups
in many ways. It is therefore a key element of the UK Fundraising suppliers directory.

The telephone is used to recruit new donors, reach lapsed supporters to reactivate
their giving, renew memberships, secure Gift Aid declarations, find out more about
supporters’ interests, and in many other ways.

Many charities now integrate the telephone into their fundraising campaigns. For
example, over recent years charities in various countries have learned that the
telephone can work well with email messages: some recipients will prefer to give
over the phone in response to such an appeal, rather than online. Similarly, universities
in particular have found that email messages alerting supporters to an upcoming
telephone fundraising call can improve the response rate.

The first three suppliers to feature in this category are Personal Telephone Fundraising,
GoGen, and MSI Charity Telemarketing.

Personal Telephone Fundraising offer the three principal telephone fundraising services
of donor acquisition, donor development, and donor retention, together with other
specialist services, many of which they say they have pioneered.

GoGen offer donor acquisition and development, together with specialist services
such as legacy, corporate prospecting, market research, and new Gift Aid declaration.
They work only for charities and not-for0profit organisations.

Founded in 1988, MSI Charity Telemarketing have helped charities promote their fundraising
activities by telephone or mail. They offer telephone canvassing for lottery members,
raffle ticket sellers, home money box collectors, workplace competitions, promotional
badges in retail outlets, and collection tins in shops. They also provide a range
of direct mail and database services.
