Share Communications have been awarded the Directory Enquiries Community Impact
Award 2005 for its charity 118 499 number.
Since the liberalisation of directory
enquiries in the UK, over £250,000 has been raised for charities, by 118 numbers,
their customers and their staff.

Since 2002, Barnardo’s along with the British Red Cross have been the beneficiaries
of funds raised by 118 499, and to date Barnardo’s has received over £20,000 from
the initiative.

Francis McAllister, Deputy Director of Fundraising at Barnardo’s, said: “This is
a very well deserved award for Share Communications. They have shown a real commitment
to raising vital funds for Barnardo’s, while providing a far more ethical alternative
for consumers who use the directory enquiries service.”
