# AskJeeves promotes Asian tsunami appeal online

Search engine Ask Jeeves has joined the range of online commerce and publishing 
companies that have donated space on their front page to promote the emergency appeal
for the victims of the Asian tsunami disaster of 26 December 2004.

Ask Jeeves has added two text links to its otherwise spartan front page. The first
links to “news on the Tsunami Earthquake”, and the second encourages visitors to“
Donate to the Tsunami Earthquake appeal”. This latter text links to the Disasters
Emergency Appeal’s website.

Ask Jeeves joins other search engines such as Google in leveraging their online 
presence to generate donations. This is believed to be the first time that Ask Jeeves
has donated front page space to a charitable appeal.
