# Tory leader to become Vice-President of Macmillan Cancer Relief

**The Rt. Hon Michael Howard QC MP, Leader of Her Majesty’s Opposition, is to become
a Vice-President of cancer care charity Macmillan Cancer Relief.**

As a result of his acceptance of the invitation, Macmillan can now claim that its
Vice-Presidents include all the main party leaders.

Macmillan already has a high standing among politicians: it is the charity that 
MPs of all parties rate as the most effective at campaigning, according to independent
polls.

Peter Cardy, Chief Executive, Macmillan Cancer Relief, said that Michael Howard “
has been a consistent supporter of Macmillan both as a constituency MP, backing 
our Get It Spent Where It’s Meant campaign, and in our fundraising at Westminster
when he helped compère the 2004 Parliamentary Palace of
Varieties”.
