Volunteering website do-it.org.uk has won the Silver Award in an international web
design contest run by Idealist.org.
Facing competition from organisations including
the US Government’s Peace Corps, do-it.org.uk came in second place behind the American
Southern Poverty Law Centre.

Do-it.org.uk is part of the charity YouthNet UK, and hosts the National Volunteering
Database offering more than 62,000 volunteering opportunities across the country.

Its editor, Tom Green, said: “This Silver Award is recognition for all the work
put in by do-it.org.uk’s staff, volunteers and partners. We re-launched the website
in April this year and have already had 25,000 people register to volunteer.”

The do-it.org.uk site was redeveloped by web design agency Interactive Bureau. The
agency’s Design Director, David Curless, said: “In addition to the design work for
the public site and an administration area, Interactive Bureau also produced and
delivered code-compliant HTML templates which the do-it team implemented to a new
content management system.”

Interactive Bureau commissioned Porter Research and Cinna Ltd. to work alongside
them to deliver this project.
