**Landfill Tax Credit Scheme funding is available for Warwickshire projects through
a partnership between Biffaward and the Warwickshire Environmental Trust.**

There are two categories of grant – small grants of up to £5,000 and larger ones
of up to £50,000. Projects that can be supported include the provision and maintenance
of public amenities and work to conserve or promote biological diversity. Such projects
could include village halls, community rooms, Internet cafés, skate parks, play
areas, nature reserves, green spaces and historic parks. Projects must be within
10 miles of a Biffa Waste Services operation.

Over the past two years the partnership between Biffaward and the Warwickshire Environmental
Trust has funded 25 projects ranging from play areas to waste education projects
with grants totalling £680,000.

Biffaward is the multi-million pound environment fund managed by the Royal Society
of Wildlife Trusts. The Warwickshire Environmental Trust (WET) helps organisations
and individuals access funding from the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme and administers
any funding received on their behalf.

Jonathan Nobbs, Assistant Fund Manager for Biffaward, said: “Working with a local
organisation such as WET means we can be sure our funding is used effectively at
a local level and that really worthwhile projects get the support they need to improve
the quality of life for local communities.”

Initial applications are made to WET and, following initial assessment by the Biffaward
Advisory Panel, full applications are then submitted to the Biffaward Board.

New applications are welcomed from organisations who think their project meets the
criteria for funding. Contact Louise Boffey, WET’s Administrator, for advice on
01926 418005.
