Ann Cotton, Founder and Executive Director of CAMFED International, has won the
award for Social Entrepreneur Of The Year at the Central region finals of the nationwide
competition.
Beating 36 other short-listed entrepreneurs from all kinds of businesses,
Ann won the award for her passionate support of education and her ability to marshal
funds and people to support [CAMFED](http://www.camfed.org)‘s aims.

She founded CAMFED after visiting Zimbabwe in 1990, where she was moved by the passion
for education amongst girls in poor, rural communities. From supporting 32 girls
in 1993, CAMFED has expanded to reach over 237,000 children, young people and their
guardians.

On winning the award Ann said: “It’s great to receive this Award and I feel deeply
honoured – credit goes to all the sponsors for putting social entrepreneurship high
on their agenda.”
