**A group of cyclists have to date raised £33,603.28 online using the JustGiving.
com online sponsorship service, one of the site’s most successful pages.**

Your charity might not be fundraising online, but more and more donors are discovering
that the tools are there to help them do it for themselves. Roger Longden and his
team of cyclists are cycling in Malawi to raise funds for ActionAid. They are using
the JustGiving.com service and since August 2003 their friends, families and colleagues
have donated £26,231.46 online, on which £7,371.82 in Gift Aid has been reclaimed,
making an online total of £33,603.28.

Some of your donors will, like Roger, already have discovered the online fundraising
tools offered by JustGiving and Bmycharity.com for themselves. But you can help
yourself and your supporters by featuring these services on your Web site and e-
mail newsletter, and indeed in your offline/paper publications.

Successful as the Mission Malawi fundraising page is, it could certainly be improved.
It is fairly impersonal, there are no profiles of the cyclists involved, and there’s
nothing about their training and the trek involved. Nevertheless, it has still attracted
several online donations of £1,000 or more, and note how all donors have actually
given the money up front rather than simply pledging it. The money will be in ActionAid’s
hands well before the sponsored event takes place.
