**The Evening Standard today begins its series of the wealthiest 100 people in London.**

The combined wealth of the top 100 people in London is £56.7 billion, according
to the Evening Standard. The newspaper today publishes its first four-page instalment:

The London Rich List is only available in the newspaper: it has not been reproduced

To qualify for inclusion people had to be resident in Greater London for most of
the year or own substantial assets in the capital. They did not have to be UK citizens:
indeed 34 of the 100 are not UK citizens.

Property and construction have yielded most entries in the list, although finance
and banking account for 14 of the 100. Media and retail account for 25 of the 100.
Twenty four of the 100 have inherited their wealth.
