Independent research by the Community Fund has found that its grants to voluntary
sector infrastructure organisations have a positive effect on the groups that they
help.
According to the research, the grants help voluntary sector infrastructure
organisations to play a more effective role in helping groups to access training,
unlock other funding and establish networks.

Sue Bryan, the Community Fund’s Research and Evaluation Manager, said: “Grants to
voluntary sector infrastructure organisations are a key element in the Community
Fund’s efforts to tackle disadvantage and improve the quality of life in communities.
We believe that the services provided by infrastructure bodies enable voluntary
and community organisations to work more efficiently and effectively, and so to
have a greater impact on the lives of the people they help.”

The research was carried out by Dr Gareth Morgan, Director of the Centre for Voluntary
Sector Research at Sheffield Hallam University, and the University of Brighton.
