The Jeremy Vine Show on BBC Radio 2 will next week discuss aggressive tactics by
charities, and the Institute of Fundraising is encouraging members to call in and
put their side of the argument.
The Institute of Fundraising has alerted members
to a high profile radio programme next week asking the question “Are charities too
aggressive?” Since it will focus on campaigning and fundraising, The Institute has
managed to ensure it is part of the debate.

CEO Lindsay Boswell is encouraging Institute members to participate in the programme
by ringing in and encouraging supporters to ring in too.

In addition he is asking members which points and arguments they would put if placed
on live national radio. He wishes to hear from from small and large charities “as
examples illustrate much better than dry statistics.”

According to the Institute, The Jeremy Vine Show on Radio 2 is the biggest, most
listened to national daytime show. The charities issue will be debated during the
show on 1 October 2003 in the first half hour, from 13.00-13.30.

Update (30 September 2003): the show will not now include the discussion on charities.
