Some charities try to collect a million pennies. In the US the March of Dimes is
a popular appeal. But what do a million pennies look like?
At the MegaPenny Project
you can see what a million pennies look like – and it might be more than your charity
was expecting. The site offers examples of what a thousand, million, billion, or
even trillion pennies would look like if stacked together.

It’s an American site so the pennies are question are American, so the scale isn’t
quite comparable with UK pennies. Still, if you were appealing for a million pennies,
this could prove a handy guide to the kind of office space you’ll be needing to
store and process them.

The MegaPenny site was established by kokogiak media to help people visualise very
large numbers.
