Newcastle upon Tyne company Governance Works has launched a new association dedicated
to the needs and interests of Board Members.
The Board Member Association will help
trustees, board members and committee members of non-for-profit distributing organisations
such as voluntary or community associations, charities, regeneration partnerships,
school and health trusts.

Rhona Howarth, Co-Director of Governance Works says: “The Association will help
board members from different organisations share experiences, exchange information
and become more effective in their role. Workers in organisations are often members
of a professional body or a trades union from this they gain support and direct
services for their role. Not so for board members. Board members need to be seen
as an asset and given the assistance they need to carry out their role.”

Christine Morrison, Co-Director of Governance Works says: “The Association is exclusively
for board members. Members will identify issues that affect the development of good
governance practice and devise an agenda to match. The Association will be a voice
representing the needs and interests of board members to external agencies, funders
and governments.”
