Oxfam received the $200,000 award for its work to relieve poverty, distress, and
suffering.

The award is made every two years and was instituted after the 1988 Seoul Olympic
Games. It is designed to recognise an individual or organisation that makes a major
contribution to international peace and harmony.

The award comes just one month before Oxfam marks its 60th anniversary.
