The Directory of Social Change reports that corporate giving has declined by 0.2%
over the previous year, the first drop in six years.
During 2000-2001, the top 400
UK companies gave £499m to charities, including £286m in cash donations. This represented
0.44% of pre-tax profits. In the USA companies give on average 1% of pre-tax profits
to charity.

Most UK companies do not give to charity. The top 400 companies account for 99%
of all corporate donations to charity.
