Do you find it difficult to respond to supporters’ e-mails? If so, you’re in good
company. A survey of the top 100 UK retailers has found that nearly half of all
customer e-mails are left unanswered.

Do you find it difficult to respond to supporters’ e-mails? If so, you’re in good
company. A survey of the top 100 UK retailers has found that nearly half of all
customer e-mails are left unanswered.

The ‘Saints and Sinners Census’ by Eyeconomy Consulting tested retailers on the
speed of their response to a test e-mail, their helpfulness, and how much they encouraged
further contact. The survey found taht 44% of the retailers took over 24 hours to
reply. Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Iceland all failed to respond within 48 hours. Blackwells,
however, responded within 15 minutes.
