“Comic Relief is one of those national whip-rounds where the poorest end up paying
the most,” argues Jonathan Freedland in The Guardian. “As the hard-earned donations
came in, the… question nagged: where are the rich?”

“Comic Relief is one of those national whip-rounds where the poorest end up paying
the most,” argues Jonathan Freedland in The Guardian. “As the hard-earned donations
came in, the… question nagged: where are the rich?”

Freedland contrasts the charitable giving of wealthy people in the UK with that
of wealthy people in the USA. He points out that “now might be a good time to start
asking the rich to cough up,” since there are now 200,000 millions in Britain now,“
twice the 1996 number.”
