**If you’re keen to register some of the new top-level domain names for your charity,
hold back. Don’t believe those companies who offer to take your money in return
for “guaranteeing” you one of these domain names.**

Read the advice offered by the [US Federal Trade Commission.](http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/alerts/domainalrt.htm)
The UK Trading Standards Institute is also reportedly investigating domain name
pre-registration, but there was no further information on their Web site.
