The NSPCC online auction in conjunction with MSN and QXL in September 1999 raised
£37,333. Over 2,000 people placed bids during the auction and each lot attracted
an average of 25 bidders. Victoria Parrish of the NSPCC said that “there were four
million hits on the QXL site during the course of the auction and it was the most
successful online charity auction they have ever held.”
