Chancellor
Gordon Brown will today present the Government’s target of an extra one million
volunteers as part of the move towards government decentralisation. He is to announce
a £300m package today to support the voluntary sector and promote volunteering,
particularly among people over 50.

Not all of this money is new: it includes the £70m for the Children’s Fund announced
last year.
