Marie Curie Cancer Care has withdrawn its job offer to a new fundraising director
just one day before his leaving party at his original employer. Fortunately Mark
Astarita was able to retain his original job at the National Deaf Children’s Society,
but The Guardian reports that Marie Curie Cancer Care “is in a state of flux with
the threat of up to 50 redundancies.”

The cancer charity explained that it was undertaking a general review of fundraising
operations.
