The Distance Selling Directive comes into force tomorrow, giving
consumers greater rights to cancel orders and make complaints. It covers shopping
by mail order, telephone, fax and Internet. Retailers, which will include charity
trading companies, will need to publish comprehensive information about goods at
the point of order. Consumers also get the right to cancel an order within seven
days after receipt of the goods purchased.

Bates Wells and Braithwaite highlighted this development in their recent legal briefing.
