Many charities have not been quick to attempt to earn revenue online from personalisation
and syndication of their unique content. Unfortunately new services being launched
could bypass those models anyway.
Many charities have not been quick to attempt
to earn revenue online from personalisation and syndication of their unique content.
Unfortunately new services being launched could bypass those models anyway.

Aggregation services such as [Octopus.com,](http://www.octopus.com) [Yodlee.com,](http://www.yodlee.com)
and [OnePage.com](http://www.onepage.com) are offering users the ability to create
personalised homepages, pulling in an array of information from almost any Web site
the user wants. This could in theroy include their favourite charity’s site.

Charities might cry “foul” in terms of intellectual property theft, but many publishers
are choosing to work with rather than against these aggregators. But of course,
presenting your charity’s information on another site could affect some of the current
income streams such as banner advertising. On the other hand, if these companies
are offering better, more relevant services than your charity can, should you be
standing in your donors’ way?
