NetAid, the ambitious online fundraising and campaigning initiative, was branded
a “flop” in today’s The Times. Media correspondent Paul McCann writes that “the
series of rock concerts broadcast on the Internet last month, attracted only £625,000
in online donations.”
Only the London concert made a profit: the other two lost
money. “A spokesman said that NetAid raised $12 million (£7.5 million) in total
to alleviate world poverty after donations of $10 million and $1 million from two
sponsors.”
