As of today, it is illegal for a company to telephone an individual who has registered
so as not to receive telemarketing calls at home. Companies, including telemarketing
agencies working on behalf of charities, face a penalty of £5,000 if they make an
unsolicited call to such individuals. They have 28 days to clear their records of
people who have registered with the Telephone Preference Service.

The Telephone Preference Service is on 0845 070 0707.
