Internet users spend a lot of their time searching. Now, thanks to the Rehab Foundation
in British Columbia, Canada, they can search for the murderer of a fictional tycoon
called Hugo and raise funds for the charity.
We’ve had online auctions galore, but
this is the first Internet mystery fundraising event. More than 500 people took
part in the event in November, each of them paying $25 to play the game. The concept
was developed in partnership with BC Tel, MyBC.com, and the Emily Carr Institute
of Art and Design. The two winners solved the case and discovered the murderer in
only 42 minutes, and won a $10,000 cash prize.

The Rehab Foundation was very pleased with the event, and plans to run it again
four times a year. The next mystery is called “The Black Widows Club” and is scheduled
to take place in February.
