Following the establishment of Women and Philanthropy, American Philanthropy Review
has launched in rapid succession a number of other Web-based discussion fora for
fundraisers.

Mentors in American Philanthropy is “the first-of-its-kind Internet mentoring forum
in the fund development arena” and is designed to link up seasoned fund development
practitioners with those who are still rapidly ascending the learning curve. According
to Stephen C. Nill, founder of American Philanthropy Review, the forum offers “experienced
practitioners an opportunity to give something back by helping to mentor their newer
colleagues. We expect to attract lots of others who have been around the track a
few times, as well as those who need the mentoring.”

Next came Planned Giving USA! which is available to anyone interested in planned
giving in the United States. There are several other e-mail lists for gift planners,
but the idea of the Web-based forum is to provide gift planners with “a far richer,
more orderly, and friendlier environment in which to give and receive vital information,
ideas, and assistance”.

And then came Grants and Foundations Online, the forum for new and experienced grant
writers and researchers which “invites just about any topic relating to grants and
foundations”.

American Philanthropy Review describes itself as “America’s first interactive electronic
subscription magazine dedicated to fund development professionals and others engaged
in some aspect of the nonprofit sector. It is delivered on demand over the World
Wide Web to the desktops of those who have come to rely on instantaneous access
to the latest in information essential to their professional growth and effectiveness.”
