Fundraising in India

Recent News

Hi there

I work for an International Animal Protection organization with offices in various countries. One such office is in India and we're looking to start fundraising for our work there.

I have no knowledge of the Indian fundraising market other than some details of a GAYE scheme that CAF India run and I'm now looking for some help in building up my knowledge on this market.

If anyone has any info/experience they can share on this topic I'd be very grateful. I've set out some questions below but please don't feel limited to answering any/all of these as any info will be of help.

Okay here goes:

- What fundraising mediums are currently being used successfully in India i.e. Trust/Corporate fundraising, direct dialogue, direct mail etc? What is being tested?

- How developed are any of these mediums? (I'm aware that DM is somewhat difficult due to slow unreliable mail, absence of mature list industry etc)

- Does anyone know of any International organizations already successfully fundraising in India who might be willing to share ideas/experience?

- Does anyone know of any specialist fundraising agencies either based in the UK with experience of fundraising in India or based in India itself….in particular any based in or around Mumbai?

Thanks in advance for your help with this.

J.

Hi!! I just joined this forum and was wondering if you were able to get info on fundraising in India? I have worked in this area for the past 3.5 years and would love to share insights.
Im currently managing fundraising for a an International NGO. You will be suprised DM does well for us and we make up the money we spend in 9 months for pledges.

On cultivations we make 12 times more than what we spend within 3 months with ave gifts above Rs 2k and a response rate of not less than 6%.

Thanks

Hi Jase,

My name is Tony Blackett, I currently run a small direct dialgoue agency in NZ and hold a fundraising directors role with a health charity in NZ.

Previously I working as Regional FR Mgr for Europe India and Russia for an international environmental ngo. My experience in India may be interesting to you. We established an effective direct dialogue programme there once I overcame my 'you have got to be kidding!' first reaction while there for the first time.

I would be happy to have a conversation with you about my experience there. It may be better to conduct that conversation outside of the forum? My private e-mail address is thetreehouse@xtra.co.nz.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards, Tony.
