Duplicate Funding

Recent News

Hello,

I am new to grant seeking and would like to ask for some advice. If I applied for funding for a particular item or project to several organisations and funding was agreed by more than one of those organisations, what is the correct protocol for accepting the money? I assume you would accept the funding from one organisation and ask the others if the money could be spent elsewhere?

Hi Dawn, Yes that is what

Hi Dawn,
Yes that is what you should do. It can seem a bit awkward but funders understand that you have to apply to more than one organisation. It is of course possible that they might say they want the grant back, but in my experience charitable trusts don't usually do that.

One problem I have encountered is trusts taking a very long time to reply. I think it's definitely worth a phone call if you have a number for them as it may take them months to reply to a letter.
