I am a mum trying to help a local charity find funds to do up a fairly large area of wasteland
so that our children and familys can enjoy the space rather than avoid it. I am looking for suggestions or advice about how to find a source of funding.
We want to plant some trees, plants and shrubs and have some street lighting on some footpaths so that we cross the area at night. The kids want a area for stunt biking and skateboarding.
We also want a trim trail of some sort to help the overall health of the area but really we just want to see something nice that's safe and that the whole community can sit in and enjoy, so i suppose we need park banches as well.
The charity organiser has rough costs in the region of £300,000..... phew a lot of money but he says it will cost at least that. I can find plenty funds that will give grants between £5,000 and £10,000 but i am trying to find one that will give us a large portion of the cost.
Can any one help me?
Thanks

Try how2fundraise.org
Thanks for your question.
I'm afraid this site is designed for professional fundraisers ie. those who work for charities, rather than members of the public fundraising for their local or favourite charity/ies. As a result, it is also not designed to carry "where can I get funding for project X?" type questions. With 192,000 charities in England and Wales alone, you can imagine how full this forum would get if just some of them used this as a port of first call.
So, I suggest you explore the site at
www.how2fundraise.org
which is designed for volunteer fundraisers and includes a section on grantseeking.
Or try the site at
www.fundingcentral.org.uk
which was launched just last week with information on 4,000 funding sources.

Large grants
There are certain waste companies that will provide larger grants, depends on your postcode in relation to their sites, and the condition you can raise 50% of the funds yourselves,a nd that the public have access to a sustainable project.
