Football and Fundraising like Peaches and Cream?

Submitted by johnbaguley on 17 June, 2008 - 18:52.

We all know many professional footballers are very rich, but in my experience few organisations are tapping this source of funds with any professionalism.

The old arguments I used to hear about how diffocult it was to get the seriously rich to give seem to be trotted out again in regard to players. So, have we really learnt nothing?

St Catherine's School on the Isle of Wight, for one, has the right answer; asking players from the local team to present prizes and meet the kids. Suddenly the kids are melting hearts and the players become involved. You've guessed the next step...

Simple major donor development!

Love to know if anyone has any great examples to pass on?

John
