Telephone fundraising agency PURE has won the contract to manage all of UNICEF UK's inbound donation calls.
As well as planned appeals, UNICEF UK occasionally needs to launch emergency appeals, so the volume of calls handled can vary considerably.

Former England women's cricket captain and President of The Lady Taverners, Rachael Heyhoe Flint has been invested with the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to cricket in the New Year's Honours List.
She had previously been awarded an MBE in 1972 while still captain of the national side, for services to women's cricket.

Comic Relief is seeking more applications from Northern Ireland for their grants programme. Only 4% of the total awarded went to N Ireland which means there was only £980k spent there in the last 3 years.

A charity auction in a private home featuring a painting by Bono and a sculpture by an American artist has raised over €200,000 for Amnesty and third world charity, Goal. The organisers exceeded their target by €100,000.

Organisations providing accommodation, training and employment and well-being services for homeless people are being invited to pitch to win a share of more than £500,000 of investment to offer more people a permanent route off the streets. The funding comes from Spark, a £1.5 million project to prevent and tackle homelessness using social enterprise.

Liberal Democrat MP Mark Oaten has tabled an Early Day Motion today calling upon the Government to stop charging VAT on UK charity donations made by text. All other methods of giving to charity are VAT exempt.

An East Lothian mechanic has won £7,000 in the Royal Blind's first 50/50 Prize Draw. David Stokes took the first prize in the draw in which schools, clubs and organisations taking part received 50% of their takings i.e. for every £1 raffle ticket sold they got back 50p.
