A computer error in Greenpeace's direct debit donations system has caused about 10,000 UK donors to be debited a hundred times their usual monthly amount, according to the BBC.
The error added two noughts to the sums to be deducted automatically from the bank accounts of about 10,000 UK supporters. Direct debit donors typically give Greenpeace between £3 and £10 a month.

Following the EU budget negotiations last week a further ‚€200 million has been secured for Peace III (or the Special Programme to Support Peace and Reconciliation in NI and the Border Counties). It was thought that the second round of EU funding (Peace II) would be the last for this programme.

As 2005 comes to an end the Charity Commission, the charity regulator for England and Wales, is asking people to think about supporting charity as part of their New Year's resolutions. It suggests a range of ways in which this support can be given, not just as a one-off donation.

The N-TEN 2006 Nonprofit Technology Conference, the US' "largest event focused on nonprofits' use of technology", will be held from 22 to 24 March 2006 in Seattle.
This year's theme is "Changing Lives and Building Community: Nonprofit Technology in Action". The event brings together more than 800 nonprofit leaders, staff and service providers.

Having published its Corporate Responsibility Report 2005, mobile phone company O2 is now offering to donate £10 to charity for each person that provides it with feedback on the report.
O2 will donate £10 "to a charitable cause" for every person who completes the short online questionnaire. There is a further incentive of a prize draw of books for every completed entry.
