The Co-operative Bank's Customers Who Care scheme has now raised over £4 million for over 80 charities since it began in 1994. For every £100 spent by customers on Co-operative Bank credit and debit cards, 1.25p is donated to the Customers Who Care campaign fund. Campaigns address issues linked to the Bank's customer-mandated Ethical Policy.

The Mail on Sunday’s You Magazine has teamed up with Clarins to reward inspirational British women who work selflessly to help underprivileged or sick children, whether on a professional or voluntary basis. The winner of the Clarins Most Dynamisante Woman 2008 will receive a cheque for £30,000 for her charity. Previous winners include Camilla Batmanghelidjh, the founder of Kids Company.

The Charity Commission has appointed Beryl Hobson as the new Head of its Large Charities Division, which manages and delivers the Commission's advice and support services to charities whose annual income exceeds £5 million, except for those charities based in Wales.

A new charity dedicated to helping all young people with disabilities to enjoy life to the full is launching a £160,000 'StarGaze' appeal. SpecialEffect will use the funds to loan out specially-adapted computer games or gaze-controlled computers.

Former television journalist for ITN and Channel Five Mark Webster has been appointed as Director of Communications for the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).
Most recently Webster was the senior spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats. From February 2008 he will take responsibility for CAF's communications strategy with specific responsibility for media relations, research, policy and events.
