Key changes to fundraising statements, part of the Charities Act 2006, come into force today. They are not optional, and affect charities, business that carry out promotional activities with a claim that money will be generated for charity, and businesses or individuals, known as professional fundarisers, who are paid to raise money or other donations for charities.

Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancerbackup have announced that they have agreed to merge with effect from about six weeks time.
Following the transfer of Cancerbackup to Macmillan Cancer Support, two of Cancerbackup's existing trustees, including Dr Maurice Slevin, currently Chairman of Cancerbackup, will join the expanded Board of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Customers buying their favourite products from Tesco raised an incredible £751,000 for its Charity of they Year 2007, The British Red Cross. The initiative, ‘One of Britain’s Favourites’, was one of Tesco’s largest ever one-off cause related marketing campaigns. Products involved in the promotion included Marmite, PG Tips and Heinz Baked Beans.
