Telephone fundraising agency The Phone Room has appointed Rachel Hunnybun as business development manager as part of its current expansion plans.

New Fundraising Manager at NCT

Pippa Holt has joined the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) as Fundraising Manager.

Pippa joins the NCT from the Great North Air Ambulance.

She takes over from Diane Emery who worked at NCT for nine years, and who was establishing corporate partnerships with the likes of Unilever, and for building an annual income of around £500,000.

Ryanair promises its compensation to charity

The low-cost airline Ryanair has launched a £3m compensation claim to the Department of Transport but says that any money it receives from the claim will go to charity.

The claim has been submitted to cover losses incurred as a result of the heightened security at UK airports after an alleged terrorist plot to blow up transatlantic flights was uncovered.

New round of bursaries for small organisations with trading ideas

Voluntary and community organisations (VCOs) with ideas or opportunities for trading goods and services as an independent, sustainable source of income can apply for funding through an initiative run by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations' (NCVO) Sustainable Funding Project (SFP).

US online giving portal Network for Good has published "Impulse on the Internet: How Crisis Compels Donors to Give Online", which confirms that the Internet is becoming a key channel for online giving in the wake of disasters.

Whizz-Kidz launch new card range with Tesco

Children's charity Whizz-Kidz has launched a new range of greetings card which will be sold via Tesco outlets. Whizz-Kidz is Tesco's charity of the year 2006.

The charity launched its range of cards with a survey to find out what the public really wanted to say to friends and family with a greetings card.

Charity team swim around Ireland

A team of six swimmers -- two women and four men -- have swam around Ireland to raise money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. The epic 1335 km swim took eight weeks, almost a month behind their ambitious original schedule.

The team swam up to 30 miles a day but bad weather slowed progress. The swimmers also had to contend with some very cold waters around Northern Ireland.
