Charity sector consultancy Action Planning is to acquire Sandcliff AB Ltd, the specialist fundraising consultancy to public sector bodies, to offer an integrated service to both voluntary and public sectors. The combined companies will trade as Action Planning.

Bono calls for conscientious commerce

British Heart Foundation launches £1 million Valentine Appeal

Ten million people give to charity through Gift Aid, says CAF

A new report from Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) states that Gift Aid has become the UK's most popular method of giving tax-efficiently to charity, with £2.8 billion given to charities through the scheme in 2004/05.

Of this £2.8 billion, £625 million was charitable tax-relief on gifts paid back by Government to charities.

TK Maxx and Cancer Research to run GiveGet clothing collection campaign again

Retailer TK Maxx is teaming up with Cancer Research UK for a second time to host GiveGet this spring and raise funds to help more people survive cancer.

The campaign aims to encourage people to spring clean their homes, clear out their wardrobes and donate items they no longer want or use to help raise funds.

Property giant makes big donation

Quinlan Private, the investment vehicle controlled by financier Derek Quinlan, has pledged $1.35 million to help fund the US-Ireland Alliance, an Irish American charity. Quinlan Private includes many of Ireland's wealthy within its ranks and has been in the news recently for acquiring prestigious buildings in London and New York.
