Getting Started with TikTok: An Introduction to Fundraising & Supporter Engagement

Hillary Clinton campaign fundraises with every tweet by Donald Trump

The Hillary Clinton presidential campaign is receiving donations for every tweet sent by rival Donald J Trump as a result of a ‘Troll Trump’ campaign.
The sign-up page explains:

“Show Donald that his unhinged rhetoric comes at a cost. Sign up to donate to Hillary’s campaign every time Donald tweets!”

It gives an example of just one of many peculiar, unfounded statements posted to Twitter by the presidential candidate.

The digital campaign takes a light-hearted approach to the serious matter of some of his messages. You can even customise your message and choose the section of American society that he has insulted – women, immigrants, Latinos, people with disabilities, native Americans and so on.
You can donate from $0.25 per tweet up to $10, or a sum of your choice. Supporters are invited to set a maximum daily limit of $3, $5, $20 or more. This makes sense given the volume of tweets that can emanate from Mr Trump.
The Troll Trump campaign was created following a tweet by former Buzzfeed editor Matt Bellassai:

Fundraising every step of the way

This campaign takes a similar approach to others that have tried to turn the unwanted actions of others into a positive fundraising campaign. Read three examples from last year of when harsh words spark positive giving campaigns:

  1. Crowdfunding for Alan Barnes following his attack
  2. The town that turned a neo-Nazi march into an anti-racism fundraising event
  3. Gunboats for migrants jibe becomes rescue boats for people
